Chapter 02
Do Pakistanis need a visa for Hong Kong in 2026?
Yes. Pakistani passport holders need a visa for every visit to Hong Kong in 2026. On the Hong Kong Immigration Department (ImmD) visa list, Pakistan is marked "Visa Required": all Pakistani nationals, except holders of diplomatic and official passports, must hold a valid visa. The only exception is direct transit by air without leaving the airport transit area.
Three things that confuse Pakistani travellers:
- No pre-arrival registration (PAR) for Pakistan. PAR is a visa-free arrangement for Indian nationals only. Pakistanis need a full visa.
- No visa on arrival and no "instant e-visa". Sites advertising an "Hong Kong e-visa in 24 hours" for Pakistanis are not official. The word "e-Visa" in Hong Kong only describes the format of the visa ImmD issues after a normal four-week decision.
- Hong Kong is not mainland China. A Chinese visa does not cover Hong Kong, and a Hong Kong visa does not cover mainland China. See our China visa for Pakistanis page if you plan both.
Chapter 03
How much is the Hong Kong visit visa fee for Pakistanis?
The official Hong Kong visit visa fee is HK$330 (≈ PKR 11,600) for an ordinary visa or single-entry entry permit, according to the ImmD fee table checked on 13 October 2026. The fee was HK$230 until the Hong Kong Government revised Immigration Department fees from 8 September 2025. Many Pakistani agency pages still quote HK$230.
| Item | Official fee | Our service fee | Total |
|---|---|---|---|
| Visit visa (single entry) | HK$330 (≈ PKR 11,600) | Quote on WhatsApp | Official fee + our fee |
| Transit visa | HK$170 (≈ PKR 6,000) | On request | — |
| Multiple-entry permit, 1 year | HK$670 (≈ PKR 23,600) | On request | — |
When and how you pay depends on the route (ImmD guidebook ID(E)1004):
- Applied directly to ImmD (online or post): you pay only after approval. The approval notice contains a payment link. You can pay by credit card through the link, GovHK or the ImmD mobile app, then download the e-Visa immediately.
- Applied through a Chinese mission or its visa centre: you pay the visa fee to the mission or centre. The Chinese Visa Application Service Center also charges its own application service fee .
See all our prices on the fees page.
Chapter 04
What documents do Pakistanis need for a Hong Kong visa?
The official checklist is in ImmD's Guidebook for Entry for Visit/Transit, ID(E)1004. Every applicant submits:
- Form ID 1003A (Application for Entry for Visit/Transit in Hong Kong), completed and signed (parent or guardian signs for under-16s).
- A recent photograph fixed on page 1 of ID 1003A.
- Copy of your passport bio page, with issue and expiry dates.
- Proof of financial standing, for example bank statements, savings passbooks or tax receipts.
- Proof of your occupation, if any, for example a company leave letter and salary slips.
- Proof of transport, for example a flight itinerary.
- Proof of the purpose of your visit: for a holiday, a tour booking receipt or itinerary; for a family visit, proof of relationship to your sponsor; for business, an employer letter and an invitation from a Hong Kong company.
Documents not in English or Chinese must come with a certified translation. ImmD can ask for more documents at any stage.
If you have a local sponsor, the sponsor sends form ID 1003B plus their Hong Kong identity card copy (individual) or Business Registration Certificate (company).
Below is how we build the file for each type of Pakistani applicant, on top of the official list.
If you are employed
- Bank statement for your salary account, last 6 months, bank-stamped
- Employer leave letter on letterhead with designation, salary and leave dates
- Last 3 salary slips
- FBR tax return (if you file) and NTN
- Government employees: departmental NOC (also needed at the airport, per the FIA FAQ)
If you run a business
- Personal and business bank statements, last 6 months
- Business NTN certificate and latest FBR tax returns
- Chamber of Commerce membership certificate or SECP incorporation documents
- For a business visit: invitation letter from the Hong Kong company plus your company's letter
If you are a student
- Enrolment letter or student card
- Parent's sponsorship letter, CNIC copy and bank statement
- NADRA Family Registration Certificate (FRC) to show the relationship
If you are a housewife or dependent

Chapter 05
How much bank balance do you need for a Hong Kong visa?
The Hong Kong Immigration Department does not publish a minimum bank balance for visit visas. Its eligibility rule is that the applicant "has adequate funds to cover the duration of his/her stay without working" (ImmD guidebook).
So the right balance is the one that comfortably covers your trip and matches your income. Hong Kong hotels are expensive compared with other Asian cities, so budget realistically. Avoid sudden large deposits before applying, and never use borrowed or arranged balances.
Chapter 06
How to apply for a Hong Kong visa from Pakistan, step by step

You have three official routes (ImmD guidebook):
Route 1: Online to ImmD (most common for us)
- Download and complete ID 1003A (and ID 1003B if you have a sponsor).
- Scan all supporting documents.
- Submit online through the GovHK "Apply for Visit/Transit Visa" service linked from immd.gov.hk.
- Wait for ImmD's decision (normally four weeks after all documents are in).
- On approval, pay HK$330 through the payment link and download the e-Visa.
Route 2: By post to ImmD Send the signed originals and documents to the Receipt and Despatch Unit, Immigration Headquarters, 61 Po Yap Road, Tseung Kwan O, New Territories, Hong Kong, directly or through your sponsor. You can fax forms first to +852 2824 1133, but the visa is only issued after ImmD receives the original form.
Route 3: Chinese Visa Application Service Center in Pakistan Overseas applicants may submit in person at the nearest Chinese diplomatic mission. In Pakistan, Hong Kong visa applications from ordinary passport holders are handled by the Chinese Visa Application Service Center (Islamabad centre at Gerry's Building, Park Road, Chak Shahzad), which forwards them to ImmD. The Karachi centre warns it can take one month or longer.
Chapter 07
How long does a Hong Kong visa take?
The Hong Kong Immigration Department says it normally takes four weeks to process a visit visa application after it receives all required documents. ImmD does not start processing until the file is complete (ImmD guidebook).
Our planning advice:
- Apply at least 6 weeks before your flight.
- Do not buy non-refundable tickets before the e-Visa is issued.
- ImmD has no fast-track service, and no agent can speed up the decision.

Chapter 08
Why Hong Kong visas get refused (and how to avoid it)
ImmD says approval "is entirely discretionary" and the Director of Immigration can refuse even an application that meets all criteria (guidebook, para 19). These are the common weak points in Pakistani files:
| Refusal reason | How to avoid it |
|---|---|
| Bona fides in doubt (purpose unclear) | Give a clear day-by-day itinerary, hotel booking and return flight |
| Not enough funds for the stay | Show a stable balance that covers Hong Kong costs and matches your income |
| Weak ties to Pakistan | Employer leave letter, business documents, family and property ties |
| Incomplete file, missing photo or unsigned form | Use the official checklist; sign ID 1003A; fix the photo on page 1 |
| Documents in Urdu without certified translation | Get certified English translations |
| Sponsor letter without the sponsor's HKID or proof of relationship | Sponsor must send ID 1003B and HKID copy; add proof of how you know them |
| False information | Never submit fake documents: making false statements to an immigration officer is an offence under Hong Kong law |
Chapter 09
What happens at the airport? (FIA and arrival checks)
At the Pakistani airport: FIA immigration checks visit-visa travellers' documents. The FIA FAQ lists a return ticket, a confirmed hotel booking with advance payment, sufficient funds (credit card funds are acceptable) and a sound profile. Once your e-Visa is approved, pay for your hotel and carry:
- Printed e-Visa (A4) and a copy on your phone
- Return ticket
- Paid hotel booking
- Bank statement and cards
- Employer NOC or business papers
- Travel insurance
Follow our offloading checklist. No one can promise you won't be questioned; a complete, honest file is the best preparation.
On arrival in Hong Kong: show your passport and the e-Visa (on your phone or printed on A4) so the officer can scan its QR code. Visitors may not take up employment, establish or join any business, or study. Working on a visit visa is illegal in Hong Kong and in Pakistan can lead to prosecution under the Emigration Ordinance. We only assist genuine visitors.
Chapter 10
Pakistanis living in the UAE or Saudi Arabia
Pakistanis living in the UAE or Saudi Arabia still need a Hong Kong visa. You have two options:
- Apply online directly to ImmD through GovHK, the same as from Pakistan. Use your UAE or Saudi bank statement, employer leave letter and residence visa copy.
- Apply in person at the Chinese mission (or its visa service centre) in your place of residence, which ImmD allows for overseas applicants.
Keep your Emirates ID or iqama valid well beyond your return date, and book your return to the Gulf.

Yes. The Hong Kong Immigration Department lists Pakistan as 'Visa Required': all Pakistani nationals except diplomatic and official passport holders must hold a valid visa before travelling to Hong Kong.
How much is the Hong Kong visit visa fee for Pakistanis?
The official Hong Kong visit visa fee is HK$330 for an ordinary visa or single-entry entry permit, according to the Immigration Department fee table checked on 13 October 2026. The fee rose from HK$230 on 8 September 2025.
How long does a Hong Kong visa take from Pakistan?
The Hong Kong Immigration Department says it normally takes four weeks to process a visit visa application after it receives all required documents. Missing documents stop the clock, so apply at least 6 weeks before travel.
Can I apply for a Hong Kong visa online from Pakistan?
Yes. The Immigration Department accepts visit visa applications online through the GovHK website, where you upload form ID 1003A and supporting documents. You can also post the forms to the Immigration Department or apply in person at the Chinese Visa Application Service Center.
Do I need a sponsor in Hong Kong for a visit visa?
No, a sponsor is optional. The Immigration Department says nominating a local sponsor will assist processing. A sponsor can be a company or an individual aged 18 or over who is a bona fide Hong Kong resident and knows the applicant; the sponsor fills form ID 1003B.
Which form is used for the Hong Kong visit visa?
The applicant fills form ID 1003A, 'Application for Entry for Visit/Transit in Hong Kong'. A local sponsor, if any, fills form ID 1003B. Both forms are free from the Immigration Department website.
Do Pakistanis need pre-arrival registration (PAR) for Hong Kong?
No. Pre-arrival registration is a visa-free arrangement for Indian nationals only. Pakistani nationals need a full visa, not PAR.
Is the Hong Kong visa a sticker or an e-Visa?
If you apply directly to the Immigration Department, the visa is issued as an e-Visa that you download and show on your phone or on A4 paper. If you apply through a Chinese diplomatic mission or its visa centre, the visa label is issued through that mission.
Does a Hong Kong visa let me visit mainland China?
No. Hong Kong and mainland China have separate immigration systems. A Hong Kong visa does not allow entry to mainland China, which needs its own Chinese visa.
How much bank balance do I need for a Hong Kong visa?
The Hong Kong Immigration Department does not publish a fixed minimum balance. It asks for proof of financial standing, such as bank statements, and requires that you have adequate funds to cover your stay without working.
