Chapter 02
Can Pakistanis get a Thailand visa in 2026?
Yes. Pakistani passport holders can get a Thailand tourist visa in 2026, but they must apply for a Thai e-Visa online before travelling. Since 1 January 2025, the Royal Thai Embassy in Islamabad has taken applications only through the official e-Visa portal, thaievisa.go.th, according to the embassy's e-Visa notice (March 2025).
What changed on 15 September 2026: Thailand cut its visa-free stay from 60 to 30 days for eligible countries and reduced visa on arrival to three countries (Azerbaijan, Belarus and Serbia). Pakistan is not on any exemption or visa-on-arrival list, as shown in the Thai MFA summary of the revised schemes. For Pakistanis, nothing got easier or harder: the e-Visa was required before and is still required now.
Key rules from the embassy notice:
- You must be physically in Pakistan for the whole application and upload proof of current location (for example a rental agreement or utility bill). Applications without it are rejected.
- Your application goes to the Royal Thai Embassy Islamabad or the Royal Thai Consulate-General Karachi, depending on where you live.
- The fee is paid offline, in cash, at the embassy's Visa Gate in Islamabad. It is non-refundable, even if you withdraw or are refused.
- The approved e-Visa arrives by email. You must print it; the embassy says mobile or electronic copies will not be accepted.
Chapter 03
How much is the Thailand visa fee for Pakistanis?
The Thailand tourist visa fee for Pakistani applicants in Islamabad is PKR 13,000 for a single entry and PKR 65,000 for multiple entries, as published by the Royal Thai Embassy Islamabad (schedule effective 15 July 2024, checked 13 October 2026). The embassy sets this fee in Pakistani rupees, so it does not move with the baht exchange rate.
| Item | Official fee | Our service fee | Total |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tourist visa, single entry | PKR 13,000 | Quote on WhatsApp | Official + service fee |
| Tourist visa, multiple entry | PKR 65,000 | Quote on WhatsApp | Official + service fee |
You pay the official fee directly to the embassy. Our service fee is separate and covers document preparation and review. Older articles quoting PKR 5,000 or PKR 19,500 are out of date or describe agency packages. See the full Thailand visa fee breakdown and our fee policy.
Chapter 04
What documents do Pakistanis need for a Thailand visa?
Every Pakistani applicant for a Thai Tourist Visa (TR) needs six core uploads, listed in the Thai MFA visa guide (31 August 2026):
- Passport biodata page (keep at least 6 months' validity as a safe rule for travel).
- Photograph taken within the last 6 months (JPG/JPEG, maximum 3 MB, per the embassy notice).
- Document showing your current location in Pakistan (CNIC address, rental agreement, utility bill in your name or your family's name).
- Travel booking confirmation (flight reservation).
- Proof of accommodation in Thailand (hotel booking, or an invitation from family or friends in Thailand).
- Financial evidence of at least THB 20,000 (for example bank statements for the last three months, or a sponsor letter).
The embassy may still ask for more documents or an interview. The checklists below add what a Pakistani applicant usually needs to make the "financial evidence" and "reason to return" parts of the file convincing.
If you are employed
- Salary certificate on company letterhead, with your designation and joining date.
- Leave approval or NOC from your employer, showing your return-to-duty date.
- Last 3 months' salary slips.
- Personal bank statement for the last 3 months (6 months is stronger), with salary credits visible.
- Government employees: a departmental NOC. The FIA FAQ says the original is handed to the immigration officer at departure.
If you run a business
- Business NTN certificate and latest FBR income tax return.
- Chamber of Commerce membership, SECP incorporation certificate, or partnership deed (whichever applies).
- Business bank statement and personal bank statement (last 3β6 months).
- A short cover letter on business letterhead stating trip dates and who runs the business while you are away.
If you are a student
- Enrolment letter or student ID, and a leave or NOC letter from your institution if travelling in term time.
- Sponsor letter from a parent, the parent's bank statement (last 3 months) and income proof.
- NADRA Family Registration Certificate (FRC) to prove the relationship with the sponsor.
- Applicants under 18 travelling without both parents: a consent letter from the parent(s) not travelling.
If you are a housewife or dependent
- Sponsor letter from your husband (or other sponsor) covering trip costs.
- Nikah nama (for spouses) or NADRA FRC (for other family sponsors).
- Sponsor's bank statement (last 3 months) and income proof (salary certificate or business documents).
- If the family travels together, keep one combined itinerary and one hotel booking for all members.
If you are retired
- Pension book or pension payment letter.
- Bank statement for the last 3 months showing pension credits and savings.
- Property documents or other assets (helpful, not mandatory).
If you are a freelancer
- FBR NTN and latest income tax return showing freelance income.
- Bank statements for the last 3β6 months showing regular client payments received into Pakistan (foreign-remittance credits).
- Client contracts or platform earnings statements as supporting evidence.
- Freelancers are often weaker on paper than salaried applicants, so a clear, consistent money trail matters most.

Chapter 05
How much bank balance do you need for a Thailand visa?
The official minimum for a Thailand tourist visa is THB 20,000 (β PKR 165,000) in financial evidence, according to the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Some Thai missions state THB 40,000 for a family, for example the Royal Thai Embassy Hanoi; Islamabad does not publish a family figure.
The THB 20,000 figure is a floor, not a target. In practice:
- Your balance should comfortably cover flights, hotels and daily costs for the whole trip.
- The balance should match your declared income. A sudden large deposit just before applying looks like borrowed money and is a common reason for refusal.
- Bank statements should be in your name (or your sponsor's, with a sponsor letter and relationship proof) and stamped by the bank.
We never arrange or "show" money in anyone's account. We advise only on genuine funds.
Chapter 06
How to apply for a Thailand e-Visa from Pakistan, step by step

- Create an account at thaievisa.go.th. One account can apply for you and family members, up to 10 applications at a time.
- Choose the visa category: Tourist Visa, single or multiple entry.
- Fill the form and upload your passport page, photo, location proof, flight booking, hotel booking and financial evidence. Upload clear scans; blurred files cause delays.
- Submit and print the application confirmation.
- Pay the fee in cash at the Visa Gate of the Royal Thai Embassy, Diplomatic Enclave, Islamabad, with the confirmation. The embassy notice gives payment hours of 09:30β13:00 and 14:00β15:30 on working days. Karachi applicants should confirm payment arrangements with the Consulate-General Karachi.
- Track the status in your e-Visa account.
- Receive the e-Visa by email and print it. Carry the printout to the airport and to Thai immigration.
All these steps come from the Royal Thai Embassy Islamabad e-Visa notice.
Chapter 07
How long does a Thailand visa take from Pakistan?
A Thailand e-Visa takes about 14 working days after the embassy has received and acknowledged your fee, according to the Royal Thai Embassy Islamabad. The clock starts at payment, not at online submission. Add weekends, Pakistani and Thai public holidays, and time to fix any document queries, and plan for four weeks between applying and flying. Do not buy non-refundable tickets before the visa is issued.

Chapter 08
Why Thailand visas get refused (and how to avoid it)
Thai embassies do not usually give detailed refusal reasons, so prevention matters. These are the problems we see most often in Pakistani files, with the fix for each:
| Problem | Fix |
|---|---|
| Fake or edited flight or hotel booking | Use only real, cancellable bookings. The embassy warns that fake documents mean immediate rejection and possible blacklisting of the applicant and the agent. |
| Funds below THB 20,000 or a sudden lump-sum deposit | Apply from an account with a natural history of income and spending. |
| No proof of current location in Pakistan | Upload a CNIC with a matching address, utility bill or rental agreement. |
| Unclear purpose or itinerary | Keep dates consistent across flight, hotel and leave letter. |
| Weak ties to Pakistan | Add an employer NOC, business documents, or family and property ties. |
| Blurred uploads or wrong photo format | Scan in colour; JPG/JPEG photo under 3 MB, taken within 6 months. |
| Applying from outside Pakistan to Islamabad | Apply to the Thai mission where you are physically located. |
The fee is non-refundable, so a refusal costs you PKR 13,000. Getting the file right the first time is the cheapest option.
Chapter 09
What happens at the airport? (FIA and arrival checks)

At the Pakistani airport, FIA immigration checks visit-visa travellers more closely than other passengers, and Bangkok is one of the routes it watches. Under its published FAQ, FIA expects visit-visa travellers to carry:
- a valid passport and the printed Thai e-Visa;
- a return ticket. A 2024 FIA and CAA instruction asked airlines to require the return on the same airline and the same PNR, naming Bangkok routes (ARY News, Oct 2024); whether this is still enforced in 2026 is not confirmed ;
- a confirmed hotel booking;
- proof of sufficient funds (a bank statement plus a debit or credit card);
- documents that support a "sound profile": an employer NOC, business papers or a student letter.
Since October 2026, FIA, passport and Protector staff also run pre-immigration document checks at major airports, including hotel details, proof of funds and travel insurance (trips.pk citing Express Tribune, 1 Oct 2026). Pakistan also requires polio vaccination for international travellers, with vaccination services at airports (Express Tribune, Oct 2026); carry your NADRA polio certificate.
On arrival in Thailand:
- Submit the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) online at tdac.immigration.go.th within 3 days before arrival. It has been mandatory since 1 May 2025 for all non-Thai travellers (Royal Thai Embassy London). It is free on the official site, so avoid look-alike sites that charge for it.
- Show the printed e-Visa, return ticket and hotel booking if asked, and be ready to show funds.
Use our full offloading checklist for Pakistani travellers before you fly.
Chapter 10
Pakistanis living in the UAE or Saudi Arabia
Pakistanis who live in the UAE or Saudi Arabia apply for the Thai e-Visa through the same portal, but the application is assigned to the Thai mission where they are physically located. In the UAE that is the Royal Thai Embassy in Abu Dhabi or the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Dubai; in Saudi Arabia it is the Royal Thai Embassy in Riyadh. The location rule in the Islamabad e-Visa notice applies the same way.
What changes:
- Location proof: Emirates ID or Saudi iqama, plus a valid residence visa.
- Fee and payment: set by the UAE or Saudi mission, not the PKR schedule above.
- Financial evidence: a UAE or Saudi bank statement and salary certificate from your local employer.
Thailand cancelled visa on arrival for most countries on 15 September 2026, and it never applied to Pakistani passports. UAE or Saudi residence does not change this.

Chapter 11
Thailand vs. similar destinations for Pakistanis
| Thailand | Malaysia | Singapore | |
|---|---|---|---|
| How to apply | e-Visa, self-apply | eVISA, self-apply | Through a local contact, ICA partner or authorised agent only |
| Official fee | PKR 13,000 | RM 20 + RM 105 processing | SGD 30 |
| Processing | ~14 working days | 2β7 working days | ~3 working days |
| Stay | Up to 60 days | Set at entry | Set at entry (e-Pass) |
| Funds rule | THB 20,000 stated | "Sufficient funds", no figure | "Sufficient cash", no figure |
Malaysia is faster and cheaper; Thailand gives a longer stay. Many Pakistani travellers combine the two. Compare Malaysia visit visa for Pakistanis, Singapore visit visa from Pakistan and Indonesia visa for Pakistanis, or check your profile with our eligibility checker.

Yes. The Royal Thai Embassy in Islamabad says anyone can apply online at thaievisa.go.th without an agent. An agent or consultant can help you prepare documents, but nobody can influence the embassy's decision.
Do I need to print my Thailand e-Visa?
Yes. The Royal Thai Embassy in Islamabad says you must print the approved e-Visa and show it at airline check-in and to Thai immigration. It says mobile or electronic copies will not be accepted.
What is the TDAC for Thailand?
The Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) is a free online arrival form that all non-Thai travellers must submit within 3 days before arriving in Thailand, at tdac.immigration.go.th. It is not a visa.
Can Pakistanis living in Dubai or Saudi Arabia apply for a Thailand e-Visa?
Yes, but the application goes to the Thai embassy or consulate in the country where you are physically located, with proof of residence such as your Emirates ID or iqama. Fees and payment rules are set by that mission.
Is a Thailand visa easy for Pakistanis?
Thailand is one of the more accessible visit visas for Pakistanis, but approval is not automatic. Refusals usually come from weak financial evidence, unclear travel plans or documents that the embassy cannot verify.
