Chapter 02

Can Pakistanis get a Malaysia visit visa in 2026?

Yes. Pakistani passport holders can get a Malaysia visit visa in 2026 by applying online for a Malaysian eVISA. The Immigration Department of Malaysia lists Pakistan among 31 nationalities for which the eVISA is compulsory for social visits (tourism, family visits or short business trips). Its visa-requirement page confirms Pakistan needs a visa, and Pakistanis are not in the group restricted to air entry, so you may enter by any gazetted entry point.

What changed in 2026:

  • 1 September 2026: the Multiple Entry Visa (MEV) is no longer available for ordinary tourism. It is limited to Fly & Cruise, Business, Medical Treatment and Wedding Tourism purposes. Most Pakistani tourists now apply for a Single Entry Visa (SEV).
  • February 2026: the MYVISA website went offline for maintenance from 10 February 2026 (High Commission notice). During that period the High Commission in Islamabad accepted applications through seven named companies, a list valid until 31 March 2026 (announcement). The portal was working when we checked on 13 October 2026, and its FAQ was updated on 6 October 2026.
  • India comparison: Indian nationals are visa-exempt until 31 December 2026. That exemption does not apply to Pakistan.

eNTRI, the older quick-visa route, is not offered to Pakistanis. The only official eVISA website is malaysiavisa.imi.gov.my; applications made through look-alike sites "cannot be verified by the official system", the department warns.

Chapter 03

How much is the Malaysia visa fee for Pakistanis?

The official Malaysia eVISA cost for a Pakistani applicant is RM 125: an RM 20 visa fee for Pakistan (from the IMI fee table) plus the RM 105 eVISA processing charge (from the MYVISA FAQ). Card payments add a 0.8% convenience charge. Payment is online only, by credit card or certain e-wallets, and it is non-refundable even if you are refused.

Chapter 04

What documents do Pakistanis need for a Malaysia visa?

For a Malaysian eVISA (social visit), every Pakistani applicant needs these items, based on the MYVISA FAQ:

  1. Passport valid for more than 6 months from your travel date, with at least 3 blank pages.
  2. Studio photo: plain white background, taken within 6 months, 35 mm × 50 mm, full face, no headgear. Selfies and scanned photos are rejected.
  3. Confirmed return ticket.
  4. Proof of accommodation for the whole stay (paid hotel booking), or a cover letter with your host's details if you stay with friends or relatives.
  5. Proof of funds: cash, card or traveller's cheques, supported by bank statements for the last 3 months.
  6. Birth certificate for minor applicants.
  7. Any other supporting document, such as a cover letter explaining your trip.

All uploads must be clear. If you have several bookings, merge them into one PDF.

If you are employed

  • Salary certificate and last 3 months' salary slips.
  • Employer NOC or leave letter with your return date.
  • Personal bank statement for 3 months (stamped), salary credits visible.
  • Government employees: a departmental NOC, which FIA collects at departure (FIA FAQ).

If you run a business

  • Business NTN and latest FBR tax return.
  • Chamber of Commerce membership, SECP certificate or partnership deed.
  • Personal and business bank statements for 3 months.
  • Cover letter on letterhead stating the purpose and dates of the visit.

If you are a student

  • Student ID or enrolment letter, plus NOC from your institution if travelling during term.
  • Parent's sponsor letter, the parent's 3-month bank statement and income proof.
  • NADRA FRC (Family Registration Certificate) to prove the relationship.
  • Birth certificate if under 18 (required by Malaysia for minors).

If you are a housewife or dependent

  • Sponsor letter from your husband or family sponsor.
  • Nikah nama (spouse) or NADRA FRC (other relatives).
  • Sponsor's 3-month bank statement and income documents.
  • If travelling as a family, register all members under one account (up to five applications at a time).

If you are retired

  • Pension letter or pension book.
  • Bank statement for 3 months showing pension credits and savings.

If you are a freelancer

  • FBR NTN and latest tax return.
  • 3–6 months of bank statements showing regular foreign-remittance credits.
  • Client contracts or platform earnings summaries.

Chapter 05

How much bank balance do you need for a Malaysia visa?

Malaysia does not publish a minimum bank balance for Pakistani visitors. The MYVISA FAQ asks social visitors to "demonstrate financial sufficiency" through cash, a valid debit or credit card, traveller's cheques or recognised e-money, supported by bank statements for the last three months.

So the right amount is the amount that clearly covers your trip and matches your income:

  • enough for hotel, food, transport and an emergency margin for every day you plan to stay;
  • regular credits (salary, business income or pension), not one large deposit made last week;
  • statements in your name or your sponsor's, with relationship proof.

Any website quoting an exact "required balance" for Malaysia is giving its own opinion, not an official rule.

How to apply for a Malaysia eVISA from Pakistan, step by step

A view from an airplane window showing the wing and clouds below, captured in daylight.
  1. Register at malaysiavisa.imi.gov.my as an individual. A temporary password is emailed; log in with an OTP and change it.
  2. Start a social-visit Single Entry Visa application. Your current local address must match where you are applying from. Avoid VPNs, which cause location errors.
  3. Upload your photo, passport page, return ticket, hotel booking, bank statements and any cover letter.
  4. Check every detail against your passport before paying. After payment, mistakes cannot be corrected and you must re-apply and pay again.
  5. Pay online by credit card (RM 20 + RM 105 + 0.8%).
  6. Wait 2–7 working days. Apply at least 14 days before travel, as the department recommends.
  7. Download the eVISA from your account (Actions column). Print it on A4 or keep the digital eVISA Note; Malaysia accepts both.
  8. Check its authenticity if an agent gave it to you. See how to check Malaysia visa status.
  9. Submit the MDAC within 3 days before arrival.

Chapter 07

How long does a Malaysia visa take?

A Malaysia eVISA takes 2 to 7 working days, according to the Immigration Department of Malaysia. That excludes weekends, Malaysian public holidays, and any time spent on queries, extra documents or interviews. The department recommends applying at least 14 days before departure. If your plans move, you do not need a new eVISA as long as you travel within its validity; check the issue and expiry dates on your eVISA Note.

Chapter 08

Why Malaysia visas get refused (and how to avoid it)

Malaysia judges each eVISA on individual merit and can refuse without giving a reason. The fee is not refunded. The common problems in Pakistani applications are:

Problem Fix
Photo rejected (selfie, coloured background, cap or scan) Use a studio photo, white background, 35 × 50 mm, taken within 6 months.
Name or passport number typed wrong Check before paying. An eVISA that does not match the passport is invalid.
No accommodation for the full stay Book a paid, cancellable hotel for every night, or upload a host letter with the host's ID details.
Bank statement under 3 months or with a sudden deposit Use 3 full months showing normal income.
No return ticket Upload a confirmed return booking.
Applying through an unofficial look-alike website Use only malaysiavisa.imi.gov.my.
Blurred or unreadable uploads Scan in colour at good resolution; merge multiple files into one PDF.

Chapter 09

What happens at the airport? (FIA and arrival checks)

Malaysia is one of the routes FIA watches most closely for visit-visa travellers. A 2024 FIA and CAA instruction asked airlines to require a return ticket on the same airline and the same PNR, naming Malaysia (ARY News, Oct 2024).

At the Pakistani airport, carry:

  • passport, eVISA printout or digital eVISA Note;
  • same-airline return ticket;
  • paid hotel booking;
  • bank statement plus a debit or credit card (the FIA FAQ lists "sufficient funds" and a "sound profile");
  • employer NOC, business papers or student letter;
  • NADRA polio vaccination certificate (Express Tribune, Oct 2026);
  • travel insurance (now checked at some airports, per trips.pk citing Express Tribune, Oct 2026).

On arrival in Malaysia, the Immigration Department says officers may check:

  • passport with at least 6 months' validity;
  • eVISA printout or digital eVISA Note;
  • boarding pass, confirmed return ticket and proof of paid accommodation;
  • other supporting documents.

The eVISA does not promise entry; the officer at the entry point decides. You also need the MDAC (Malaysia Digital Arrival Card), submitted free at imigresen-online.imi.gov.my within 3 days before arrival (Tempo, quoting Malaysian Immigration). Declare cash above USD 10,000 equivalent to Malaysian customs, as the MDAC portal reminds travellers.

Chapter 10

Pakistanis living in the UAE or Saudi Arabia

Pakistanis living in the UAE or Saudi Arabia can apply for the Malaysian eVISA from where they live. The MYVISA FAQ says the eVISA can be applied for from anywhere except Malaysia, Israel and North Korea, and that a traveller in another country needs proof of residence or stay in that country.

What changes:

  • Upload your Emirates ID or iqama and residence visa as proof of where you live.
  • Use your UAE or Saudi bank statement (3 months) and local salary certificate.
  • The fee is the same (RM 20 + RM 105), paid online by card.
  • Your return ticket should go back to your country of residence; your residence visa should stay valid for the whole trip.
