How Much Bank Balance Do Pakistanis Need for a Visit Visa? (2026)

Quick answer

It depends on the country. Some publish a fixed figure: Schengen states set a daily amount (e.g. EUR 120/day for France without accommodation proof), Thailand asks for at least THB 20,000, Indonesia at least USD 2,000, and FIA cites EUR 2,000 for Dubai. The UK, Canada, USA and Australia set no fixed minimum. Everywhere, your balance must match your income and build up normally.

Official bank balance figures by country (checked 13 October 2026)

We publish a figure only when a government or official source states it. Where there is no official figure, we say so.

Chapter 02

How much money do you need for a Schengen visa from Pakistan?

Each Schengen country sets its own "reference amount", the money a visitor should have per day or per trip. The European Commission publishes the official list (Annex 25 of the Schengen Borders Practical Handbook, dated 8 June 2026). For the Schengen countries Pakistanis visit most:

Country Official reference amount
France EUR 120 per day without accommodation proof; EUR 65 per day with a hotel booking; EUR 32.50 per day with an attestation d'accueil (host certificate)
Germany No mandatory amount; EUR 45 per day as a guide
Italy Table by trip length: 1–5 days EUR 269.60 in total; 6–10 days EUR 44.93 per day; 11–20 days EUR 51.64 + EUR 36.67 per day; over 20 days EUR 206.58 + EUR 27.89 per day (lower per-person amounts for groups of 2+)
Spain EUR 122.10 per person per day, minimum EUR 1,098.90 whatever the length
Netherlands EUR 55 per person per day
Belgium About EUR 95 per day in a hotel; about EUR 45 per day staying with a private host
Switzerland About CHF 100 per day (CHF 30 for students)
Austria No reference amount; assessed case by case
Greece EUR 50 per day, minimum EUR 300 (halved for minors)
Portugal EUR 75 per entry plus EUR 40 per day
Sweden SEK 700 per day (from 15 April 2026)
Denmark DKK 350 per 24 hours
Norway NOK 300 per day if staying with hosts or prepaid; NOK 1,300 per day without accommodation
Finland About EUR 50 per day, on top of tickets and accommodation
Hungary EUR 40 per day
Czechia CZK 1,565 per day for stays up to 30 days
Poland PLN 300 for up to 4 days; PLN 75 per day beyond that

Worked example (France, 10 days, hotel booked): EUR 65 × 10 = EUR 650 (≈ PKR 201,000) as the official reference. This is a minimum reference for border checks. Your bank statement should comfortably cover your flights, hotel and daily spending on top. Use our bank statement calculator for your own dates.

Chapter 03

How much bank balance is needed for a UK, Canada, USA or Australia visit visa?

The UK, Canada, USA and Australia do not set a minimum bank balance for visitors. The UK Home Office's Visit guidance (version 18.0, 8 October 2026) says plainly: "There is no set level of funds required." IRCC tells officers the money must be enough "to cover all reasonable expenses" of the stay. Australia asks that you "have, or have access to, enough money to support yourself".

Instead of a number, these countries look at whether your funds are credible:

  • Does the balance fit your declared salary or business income?
  • Has the money built up over months, or did it arrive just before you applied?
  • Is the trip cost reasonable compared with your income and savings?
  • Does your tax return support the income you claim?

A modest, consistent file often looks better than a large balance that cannot be explained. See our UK visit visa requirements and Canada visit visa requirements.

Chapter 04

How much bank balance is needed for a Dubai visit visa?

The UAE authorities (ICP and GDRFA) do not publish a minimum bank balance for visit visas that we could find. The only official figure comes from Pakistan's side: the FIA FAQ lists "Sufficient Funds (e.g at least 2000 EUR for Dubai)" among the conditions for visit-visa travel, and says an amount available on a credit card is also acceptable. That is what FIA may check when you leave Pakistan. See our Dubai visit visa guide and the FIA airport checklist.

Chapter 05

Five rules for a bank statement that helps your visa

These principles apply to every country, whether or not it publishes a figure.

  1. Match your income. Your balance and monthly credits should agree with your salary certificate, salary slips, business accounts and FBR tax return. If you earn PKR 150,000 a month, a PKR 5 million balance needs an explanation.
  2. No unexplained sudden deposits. The UK Visit guidance tells caseworkers that where most of the funds "have not been held in their account for long", they may make further checks on where the money came from. If you received a large amount (property sale, gratuity, inheritance), keep the sale deed, employer letter or other proof.
  3. Never park borrowed money. Putting a relative's or lender's money in your account for the statement is misleading and is a common refusal reason. If someone else is paying, show their statement, a sponsor letter and proof of relationship (FRC or nikah nama).
  4. Show normal life. A statement with salary credits, bills and everyday spending looks genuine. An account that sits untouched and then suddenly fills up does not.
  5. Cover the whole trip comfortably. Where a country sets a daily amount, treat it as the floor. Add your flights and hotel on top.

Chapter 06

What bank documents do Pakistani applicants submit?

Most visit-visa files from Pakistan include the following bank documents:

  • Bank statement for the last 3–6 months. Thailand's e-Visa portal, Indonesia's e-Visa FAQ, Japan's embassy and Australia's guidance all mention 3 months. Many Pakistani applicants submit 6 months because it shows a steadier history. Check your destination's list.
  • Account maintenance certificate (bank maintenance letter). A letter on bank letterhead confirming your name, account number, account opening date and current balance. Pakistani banks issue these at the branch and some through internet banking; Bank Alfalah, for example, lists an "Account Maintenance Certificate" via internet banking in its schedule of charges. Check your own bank's fee.
  • Stamped or signed statement. Ask your branch to stamp and sign the printed statement. Some authorities are strict about format: Spain, in the EU's reference amounts list, says bank letters or internet bank statements are not acceptable as proof of funds at its border. If the official checklist asks for a bank-issued statement, a self-printed PDF from your app may not be enough.
  • Credit card statement, if you will rely on a card abroad. FIA accepts a credit card limit as funds.
  • Fixed deposits, savings certificates or property documents as extra evidence of a stable financial position.
  • Sponsor's documents, if someone else pays: their statement, maintenance letter, CNIC and proof of relationship.

Tip: Order the statement and maintenance letter on the same day, a few days before you apply, so the balances agree.

Chapter 07

Frequently asked questions

How much bank balance is required for a UK visit visa from Pakistan?

There is no fixed minimum. The UK Home Office's Visit guidance (8 October 2026) says there is no set level of funds required. You must show you can pay for your trip and support yourself, and the money should fit your income and history.

How much bank statement is needed for a Schengen visa?

It depends on the country. The EU's official list of reference amounts (dated 8 June 2026) sets, for example, EUR 120 per day for France without accommodation proof (EUR 65 with a hotel), EUR 55 per day for the Netherlands and EUR 122.10 per day for Spain with a minimum of EUR 1,098.90.

How much bank balance is needed for a Dubai visit visa?

The UAE does not publish an official figure. Pakistan's FIA, in its FAQ for visit-visa travellers, gives the example of at least EUR 2,000 for Dubai and accepts a credit card limit as funds.

How much money is needed for a Thailand visa from Pakistan?

The Thai e-Visa portal asks for financial evidence of no less than THB 20,000, such as bank statements for the last three months. Tourism Authority of Thailand says visitors may also be asked at entry for THB 20,000 per person or THB 40,000 per family.

How much bank balance is needed for an Indonesia visa?

Indonesia's official e-Visa FAQ asks for financial proof of at least USD 2,000 for the 60-day visit visa, such as a bank statement for the last 3 months, a recent salary slip or time deposits.

Is a sudden large deposit a problem for a visa?

It can be. The UK Visit guidance tells caseworkers that if most of the funds have not been held for long, they may make further checks on where the money came from. Keep documents that prove the source of any large deposit.

Can I show someone else's money in my bank account?

No. Borrowing money to park in your account so the balance looks higher is misleading and a common reason for refusal. If a family member is paying, show their own statement, a sponsor letter and proof of relationship instead.

What is a bank maintenance certificate?

It is a letter from your Pakistani bank confirming your account details, account opening date and current balance. Many embassies and visa centres ask for it with a 6-month bank statement; Bank Alfalah, for example, issues one through internet banking for a fee listed in its schedule of charges.

How many months of bank statement are needed for a visit visa?

It depends on the destination. Thailand's e-Visa portal and Indonesia's e-Visa FAQ mention the last 3 months, Japan's embassy in Pakistan asks for 3 months, and Australia suggests 3 months. Many Pakistani applicants submit 6 months, which shows a steadier history.
