Chapter 01
Two official ways to check a Malaysia visa
| What you want to know | Official tool | What you need |
|---|---|---|
| Is my application approved yet? | Your MYVISA account at malaysiavisa.imi.gov.my | Email, OTP, password |
| Is this eVISA genuine? | Check eVISA Authenticity | Passport number, eVISA sticker number, captcha |
| My agent applied; where is it? | Ask the agent | The agent controls the account |
Both tools are run by the Immigration Department of Malaysia and were checked on 13 October 2026. Everything else (sites asking only for a passport number, WhatsApp "status checkers", paid tracking services) is unofficial.

Chapter 02
How do I check my Malaysia visit visa status online?
You check your Malaysia eVISA status by logging in to the account you used to apply at malaysiavisa.imi.gov.my. The steps, from the MYVISA FAQ:
- Go to malaysiavisa.imi.gov.my and choose Individual → Sign in.
- Enter your email address and click Send OTP. A 6-digit code arrives by email.
- Enter the OTP and your password, and sign in.
- Your applications appear in a list with their current status.
- When an application is approved, click Download eVISA in the Actions column.
Forgot your password? Click "Forgot Email/Password", choose Password, and enter your email and passport number. A temporary password is emailed to you.
OTP email not arriving? Check spam or junk. Malaysia suggests Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo or QQ addresses if your email provider blocks its messages.
Location or login errors from Pakistan? The department suggests switching off any VPN, trying mobile data instead of office Wi-Fi, clearing your browser cache, or trying another browser.
Chapter 03
Can I check my Malaysia visa by passport number only?
No. There is no official Malaysia visa status check that works with a passport number alone. The official Check eVISA Authenticity page asks for three things:
- Passport/document number;
- Sticker number (the number printed on your eVISA);
- Captcha.
This tool confirms whether an issued eVISA is genuine. It is not a tracker for pending applications. If a website promises to "check Malaysia visa status by passport number" without the sticker number, it is not the Malaysian government, and you should not enter your personal data there.
Chapter 04
How do I verify an eVISA my agent sent me?
If an agent or relative applied for your Malaysia eVISA and sent you a PDF, verify it yourself before you travel:
- Open the official Check eVISA Authenticity page.
- Enter your passport number exactly as printed.
- Enter the sticker number from the eVISA.
- Complete the captcha and click Check.
- Compare the result with the PDF: your name, passport number and the issue and expiry dates must match.
If the official tool does not confirm the eVISA, do not fly on it. Contact the Immigration Department's Live Chat on malaysiavisa.imi.gov.my, which the department says runs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Why this matters for Pakistanis: travelling on a document that immigration cannot verify can lead to refusal of entry in Malaysia and serious questions from FIA at home.

Chapter 05
My agent applied for me. How do I check my status?
If an agent submitted your eVISA, the Immigration Department of Malaysia says you must contact the agent for the status. The department adds that it "will not be held responsible" for issues from third-party applications, whether official or unofficial, and it strongly advises applicants to apply on their own.
Practical advice:
- Ask your agent to apply from an account in your name and email, or to show you the status screen.
- Once approved, check the eVISA yourself with the authenticity tool above.
- If you applied through a website other than malaysiavisa.imi.gov.my, Malaysia states that such applications cannot be verified by the official system. Only the official site counts.
Chapter 06
What do the Malaysia eVISA statuses and problems mean?
| Situation | What to do |
|---|---|
| Status still shows "New Application" after you paid | Do not pay again. Contact Live Chat (official advice). |
| Charged twice | Contact Live Chat for help. |
| No decision after 7 working days | Check for requests for additional documents in your account and email; queries and interviews add time. |
| Approved, but a detail is wrong | Malaysia says you must re-apply with correct details; an eVISA that does not match your passport is invalid. |
| Refused | No refund and usually no reason given. Fix the weak points before re-applying. |
The official processing time is 2 to 7 working days, excluding weekends, Malaysian public holidays and time spent on queries, extra documents or interviews (MYVISA FAQ).
Chapter 07
How do I check my Malaysia visa validity?
You check your Malaysia visa validity on the eVISA Note itself: the issue date and expiration date columns show its validity period, according to the Immigration Department of Malaysia. Two more rules matter:
- An approved new eVISA automatically cancels any older active Malaysian visa. If the new one is refused, the older visa stays valid.
- Your length of stay is decided by the immigration officer when you arrive. Overstaying can lead to fines and future entry bans, the department warns.

Chapter 08
Paper (sticker) visa vs. eVISA
Most Pakistanis now get a Malaysian eVISA, which you can print or show digitally. A paper or "normal" visa is issued through a Malaysian High Commission, Embassy or Consulate, mainly for travel documents that the eVISA system does not accept. In February 2026, while the MYVISA site was down for maintenance (High Commission notice, 10 Feb 2026), the High Commission in Islamabad accepted applications through named companies until 31 March 2026. For any application lodged at the High Commission, ask the company or the mission that took it for status; there is no official online tracker for it that we could find.
Chapter 09
After approval: what to check before you fly
- Print the eVISA on A4 (colour or black and white) or keep the digital eVISA Note on your phone.
- Verify it with the authenticity tool, even if you applied yourself.
- Submit the free MDAC at imigresen-online.imi.gov.my within 3 days before arrival.
- Carry a return ticket, paid hotel booking and proof of funds for FIA and for Malaysian immigration. Use our offloading checklist.

Can I check my Malaysia visa status by passport number only?

How do I know if my Malaysia eVISA from an agent is genuine?
Enter your passport number and the eVISA sticker number in the official Check eVISA Authenticity tool at malaysiavisa.imi.gov.my/evisa/check-evisa. If the official tool cannot verify it, do not travel on it and contact the Immigration Department's Live Chat.

My status still shows 'New Application' after payment. What should I do?
Do not pay again. The Immigration Department of Malaysia advises contacting the 24-hour Live Chat on the MYVISA portal for immediate help.

Log in to your MYVISA account and click Download eVISA in the Actions column of the approved application. Print it on A4, or carry the digital eVISA Note, which Malaysia accepts.
How do I check my Malaysia visa validity?

No. The Immigration Department of Malaysia says malaysiavisa.imi.gov.my is the only official eVISA website, and applications made through third-party sites cannot be verified by the official system.
