Chapter 02
How much is the Schengen visa fee for Pakistanis?
The Schengen short-stay visa fee is EUR 90 for adults and EUR 45 for children aged 6 to 12, according to the European Commission. The fee is set by EU law, so it is the same whether you apply to Germany, Italy, Spain, France, the Netherlands or any other Schengen state. The Commission's page notes that the fee can be waived for some categories of applicants, and that an extra fee may apply when you apply through a visa service centre.
Older Pakistani articles that quote EUR 80 are out of date.
Chapter 03
How do you pay the Schengen fee in Pakistan, and in which currency?
The fee is fixed in euros but usually paid in rupees. The German Missions in Pakistan say visa fees are due in PKR at the current exchange rate, in cash, at the Embassy in Islamabad or the Consulate General in Karachi. Countries using VFS Global or BLS collect the visa fee and their service fee at the centre; check the payment method on that centre's official site before your appointment.
Because the rupee amount follows the euro, a quote in PKR from a few months ago may be wrong today. Our PKR figures update at build time; the consulate's rate on the day decides.
Chapter 04
What are the VFS and BLS service fees?
A service fee is charged by the private company that runs the application centre, on top of the EUR 90 visa fee. It pays for the centre, not for the decision.
- Italy (BLS-Intiana): the Italian Consulate General in Karachi states the only fee payable to BLS is the EUR 35 service fee.
- Netherlands (VFS Global): Netherlands Worldwide says you always pay VFS service costs; the amount was not confirmed on 13 October 2026.
- Spain (BLS/Intiana): service fee not confirmed.
- Germany: applications are taken at the Embassy and Consulate General, so there is no outsourcing fee.
Optional extras (premium lounge, SMS updates, courier) are optional. They do not affect the decision.

Chapter 05
What does a Schengen visa really cost a Pakistani family?
A Schengen trip for a family has several costs beyond the visa fee. A worked example for two adults and two children aged 8 and 14 applying to Italy:
| Item | Calculation | Total |
|---|---|---|
| Visa fees | 3 × EUR 90 (adults and 14-year-old) + 1 × EUR 45 | EUR 315 (≈ PKR 97,400) |
| BLS service fee | 4 × EUR 35 | EUR 140 (≈ PKR 43,300) |
| Travel medical insurance | 4 policies, EUR 30,000+ cover | Varies |
| Translations (nikah nama, FRC if needed) | Per document | Varies |
| Our service fee | Per applicant or family quote | Quote on WhatsApp |
If you are refused, the visa fee and service fees are not refunded. That is the real cost of a weak file.
Chapter 06
Is the Schengen visa fee refunded if refused?
No. The Schengen visa fee pays for examining your application, so it is not refunded if the visa is refused, and the EU Visa Code Handbook notes that service fees are not reimbursed either. Read why Schengen visas are refused before you pay.
Chapter 07
Do I need to pay for a Schengen appointment?
No. Official appointment and waiting-list registration is free. Germany's missions in Pakistan say that anyone who asks for money at this stage is a fraudster and should be reported to the police. The Italian Embassy warned in July 2026 that appointments should never be purchased (reported by ProPakistani). If someone offers you a "confirmed slot" for money, walk away and report it to the embassy.

Chapter 08
How does the Schengen fee compare with the UK?
The UK Standard Visitor visa costs GBP 135 for 6 months from 8 April 2026, with no insurance requirement for the visa. The Schengen visa costs EUR 90 plus any centre fee plus mandatory insurance. See UK visit visa fee from Pakistan.

Frequently asked questions
What is the Schengen visa fee for Pakistanis in 2026?
The Schengen short-stay visa fee is EUR 90 for adults and EUR 45 for children aged 6 to 12, according to the European Commission, as of 13 October 2026. It is the same for every Schengen country.
How much is the Schengen visa fee in Pakistani rupees?
The fee is set in euros. Germany's missions in Pakistan collect it in PKR, in cash, at their current exchange rate, so the rupee amount changes with the euro. EUR 90 is roughly [[PKR:EUR:90]] at today's rate.
Is the Schengen visa fee refundable if refused?
No. The Schengen visa fee pays for processing the application, not for the visa, so it is not refunded if the visa is refused. Service centre fees are not refunded either.
What is the VFS or BLS service fee for Schengen visas in Pakistan?
Each country's outsourced centre charges its own service fee on top of the EUR 90 visa fee. The Italian Consulate in Karachi states the BLS fee as EUR 35. Germany takes applications directly at its missions, so there is no outsourcing fee.
Do children pay the Schengen visa fee?
Children aged 6 to 12 pay EUR 45, according to the European Commission. Older children and adults pay EUR 90. Check your consulate's page for children under 6.
Is travel insurance included in the Schengen visa fee?
No. You buy Schengen travel medical insurance separately, with minimum cover of EUR 30,000 valid in all Schengen states for your whole stay. Its price depends on the insurer, your age and the trip length.
Do I have to pay anyone for a Schengen appointment?
No. Appointment registration on official systems is free. Germany's missions in Pakistan say anyone asking for money to register you is a fraudster. Only the visa fee and the official centre's service fee are payable.
Is the Schengen visa fee the same for every country?
Yes. The EUR 90 visa fee is set by EU law and is the same for Germany, Italy, Spain, France, the Netherlands and every other Schengen state. Only the service centre fee and the PKR exchange rate differ.
